Happy Thanksgiving!!

Today we did many activities about Thanksgiving.  One of the things we did was to make Pumpkin Pie in a Bag.   The kids loved it and wanted me to share the recipe!

2 graham crackers
1 T. sugar
1 T. squeeze margarine
1/4 cup milk
1 T. dry vanilla pudding mix
1 T. canned pumpkin
1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 candied orange slice
1 plastic cup
1 small bowl
1 baggie
1 spoon

Crush up graham crackers in baggie.  Add sugar and margarine.  Close baggie and mix.  Spread mixture in bowl.  In cup, mix milk and vanilla pudding. Stir 50 times.  Add canned pumpkin and pumpkin spice.  Stir 10 more times.  Pour into pie shell (bowl with graham cracker mixture).  Top with candied orange slice.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Science Day! November 17th, 2011

This year during Science day the students will be able to participate in an Egg Drop Contest. See details below and look for more information coming home today.

***EGG DROP DETAILS***

Students will be preparing their "vessel" at home either by themselves, or with small groups of students in the same grade level.

We are asking that the entries be brought in either on Wednesday, November 16th or Thursday, November 17th, as they will need to contain a raw egg (to be placed in by the students prior to bringing to school).

Students will need to use tape or a label to mark their vessel with their name/names so they can be announced prior to each drop.

Winners will get a special "My Egg Survived" Certificate, Bragging rights, and an appearance on the morning announcements.

* The drop for all grades will take place behind the cafeteria in the bus loading area during Science Day.  All students will watch the egg drop projects drop for their grade.  Vessels for Kindergarten through 4th Grade will be dropped from the roof of the school.

Our local fire department will help our 5th Graders reach new heights by bringing their truck and ladder for a special drop!  Parents are welcome to come watch!

Drop Schedule:  K 8 a.m.; 1st 8:30 a.m.; 2nd 9 a.m.; 3rd 9:30 a.m.; 4th 10 a.m; 5th 10:30 a.m

Update!

Thursday:  PJ Day!  The students earned a class reward so we will all wear our PJs to school tomorrow.  Please remember they still need to wear real shoes.

Friday:  Book Character Day!  Each child may dress up as their favorite book character.  This is not a scary Halloween costume but a character from a story book.  Please no props.  It is P.E. day so lets remember to wear sneakers.

Thanks!
